2 Down, 13 to Go
I'm dieting - AGAIN. But this time I decided to just do it. I looked into a lot of different plans, because obviously eggs, cheese, bacon, sausage, hamburgers, steaks and chicken ain't doin' it for me anymore. You've guessed it, I am an Atkins fan. I lost 15-20 pounds a few years ago with Atkins and I have been able to maintain my weight while really chowin' down. I have a problem with self denial and I love eggs, meat and cheese, so it was perfect for me. But my body has betrayed me. I am unable to lose "the baby weight". Actually, it's more baby belly than baby weight. I weigh a few pounds less now than before I became pregnant with the twins. However, the pregnancy did something to my upper abdomen and thighs that is appalling. The skin is loose and hanging and just gross. I figure 15 pounds should do it.
After thoughtful consideration of my inability to control myself, I decided on Slimfast. Why? Because if the food is not in the house, I won't be able to eat it. I don't usually have a problem keeping the weight off once it's gone, so hopefully eating real food again 3 meals a day won't be an issue when this "diet" is over. Of course I will exercise whenever I am able and hopefully that will help, too. But for me, I really need to sweat and pant for exercise to work at all. Mere walking just doesn't cut it.
Here's how it goes...
Shake for breakfast, along with a small portion of some healthy food. I usually have 1/2 cup cottage cheese with pineapple.
Shake for lunch, along with a small portion of healthy food. I usually have 1/2 can tuna with a few grape tomatoes and baby carrots.
Then I get to have 2 fruits and 1 snack. I usually have an apple or an orange sometime after lunch, then I get my chocolate fix with a really small snack bar. Can you say ripoff?
Then dinner - a piece of chicken or other protein the size of my very small palm and a plate full of veggies.
Funny thing is, if I weighed more, I'd be allowed more snacks and fruit. So I thought maybe I'd gain 20 pounds, the I could eat more to lose weight. Not a good idea, right? Just a thought.
I started last Wednesday, and on Saturday, at my private weigh-in on my inaccurate scale in my bathroom, I was 2 pounds lighter. Only 13 more to go. I figure if I can lose 2 pounds week, I only have 6 more weeks of torture.
Enough about the diet. I just needed to put it in writing so that I have no choice but to stick to it.
